Top notes are Apple, Cedar, Sicilian Lemon and Lily-of-the-Valley; middle notes are White Rose, Bamboo and Jasmine; base notes are Amber, Musk and Cedar. Jelly beans are thought to be a hybrid of two candies – the Turkish delight, a popular Middle Eastern soft jelly flavored with orange, honey and rosewater and Jordan almonds, almonds coated with a crunch sugar shell. In 1976, David Klein, a candy shop assistant, developed candies of assorted natural flavors, completely different from the medicinal tasting candies at that time. This eventually became the jelly bean as we know it - a small bullet-shaped confection with a sweet candy shell and jelly interior that comes in a multitude of flavours.
