ScentSignal respects your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we handle it. We operate from Sweden and follow EU/GDPR rules for processing personal data.

What we collect
Account data — your email, username, and any optional profile fields you choose to provide.
Content you contribute — fragrances, reviews, ratings, blog posts, and diary entries you create on the platform.
Technical data — browser type and IP address, used for security purposes such as rate limiting and abuse detection.
Usage data — basic information about pages visited and time on site, used to understand how the platform is used.
How we use it
We use your data to operate the platform, authenticate you, display your contributions, improve the product, and communicate with you about your account.
Who we share with
We use a small set of GDPR-compliant data processors to run ScentSignal:
Supabase — database and authentication, hosted in the Sweden region.
Cloudinary — image hosting for avatars, fragrance bottles, and editorial imagery.
Vercel — web hosting and privacy-first analytics.
We do not sell your data to third parties.
Your rights
Under GDPR you have the right to request access to your data, correction, deletion, restriction of processing, or data portability. To exercise any of these rights, email support@scentsignal.com.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Swedish data protection authority, IMY (Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten).

Account deletion & data export
To request account deletion or a copy of your data, email support@scentsignal.com.
Data retention
Account data is kept while your account is active. After account deletion, your data is removed within 30 days, except where we have a legal obligation to retain it.

We'll update this policy as the platform evolves and notify users of significant changes.
