ScentSignal is a community-driven fragrance discovery platform. We respect the intellectual property rights of fragrance brands, photographers, and content creators. This page describes our copyright policy and how rightsholders can request removal of content they believe infringes their rights.
Fragrance names and trademarks
Fragrance names, brand names, and house names are trademarks of their respective owners. ScentSignal uses these names solely to identify and describe fragrances on our platform — what trademark law calls “nominative fair use.” We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any fragrance brand or house listed on ScentSignal.
If you are a trademark holder and believe your mark is being used in a way that suggests endorsement, partnership, or origin, please contact us at support@scentsignal.com.
Bottle images and visual content
Bottle images and visual content displayed on ScentSignal are used for identification and discovery purposes. We do not claim ownership of brand imagery, product photography, or other visual content that may be owned by fragrance brands, photographers, retailers, or third parties.
If you are the rightsholder of an image and would like it removed or properly attributed, please send a takedown request to support@scentsignal.com with:
- The specific URL(s) on ScentSignal where the image appears
- A description of the image and your relationship to it (e.g. photographer, brand, original publisher)
- Your contact information
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorized
We respond to all takedown requests within 10 business days. In most cases, we will remove the image promptly upon verification.
Fragrance descriptions and reviews
Fragrance descriptions on ScentSignal are factual summaries generated from structured data (notes, accords, year, perfumer) to identify and describe each fragrance. User-contributed reviews and diary entries are the original work of their authors.
If you believe a description on ScentSignal contains content that infringes your copyright — for example, copied verbatim from a copyrighted source — please contact us at support@scentsignal.com with the specific URL and a description of the issue.
Counter-notices
If your content has been removed from ScentSignal and you believe the removal was in error, you may send a counter-notice to support@scentsignal.com including:
- The URL of the removed content
- Your contact information
- A signed statement, made in good faith, that you believe the content was removed in error and that you are the rightful owner (or authorized to act on behalf of the owner) of the content
- A statement of your consent to legal jurisdiction in Sweden, where ScentSignal is based
Repeat infringer policy
ScentSignal will, in appropriate circumstances, terminate the accounts of users who are determined to be repeat infringers of copyrighted material.
