Анна Каренина (Anna Karenina) was launched by The New Dawn in 1975 or 76 (in was listed in the catalog of New Products in 1977). The fragrance was inspired by the heroine of Lav Tolstoy's Anna Karenina. It wasn't unusual for Soviet perfumers to source inspiration in Russian literature and art in general.
