Matière Noire opens with a watery, tart blackcurrant syrup—sharp and slightly jammy against skin. The heart unfolds into a lush tangle of narcissus and cyclamen, their green stems anchoring the creamy white florals of jasmine sambac and rose. As the composition settles, agarwood emerges dark and resinous, its woody smoke deepened by patchouli and benzoin, while incense adds a dry, sacred edge that lingers long into the drydown.
