Bête Humaine opens with an almost medicinal brightness—mastic and cumin spark against violet leaf's green whisper, while roasted chestnut adds earthen warmth. The heart settles into dry cedar and sandalwood, their woody grain deepened by labdanum's resinous amber. As it dries, guaiac wood's smoky phenol cuts through, anchored by cypriol's earthy, almost animalic character and haitian vetiver's leathery root. Pine and papyrus emerge in the final hours, their clean, papery texture gradually worn down by the persistent grip of smoke-tinged wood.
