Outlands opens with a sharp, almost electric tingle—Sichuan pepper and cardamom bite against bright bergamot and resinous frankincense, a spice-and-citrus clash that feels arid and alive. The heart softens into something more ambiguous: wormwood's herbal rasp curls beneath orange blossom's heady sweetness, while cumin and saffron add earthen warmth, grounded by patchouli and a whisper of rose. As it settles, amber and opoponax glow against creamy vanilla and powdery maltol, the oud threading through like smoke, the whole composition resting finally on a bed of musk and ambergris—intimate, resinous, enduring.
